Considering, the summer has arrived FINALLY below is more or less a review on how to protect your beard from extreme heat.
Moisturize
Proper moisturizing is the most important thing you can do to maintain a healthy beard, especially as you grow it longer. Keeping it moisturized now will ensure that you promote faster, thicker and healthier beard growth in the future. This means that as you get the length you desire, the hairs will be healthy and full.
Your beard hairs are designed (this is some scientific stuff here) to “wick” the oil away from your skin, which causes your face to dry out. The human body is a crazy thing. It will start to over-produce its natural oil (sebum) to compensate for the dryness. This is the primary reason many people get acne when the body over-produces natural oil.
By applying beard oil regularly, your skin stays nourished and healthy, which your body recognizes and it will not over-produce sebum. This will, in turn, keep your beard soft and more manageable, shiny and overall healthier!
Not to mention the oil will eliminate beard itch, dandruff and control flyaway hairs! This is why I consider a good beard oil like Straight Up to be the foundation of a good beard and an absolute must for any beard over a few weeks old. For those of you with a growth of 3 months or longer, oil alone may not be enough. A quality Beard Balm may be necessary to lock in deep moisture throughout the day.
How to Properly Apply Your Beard Oil
Start by dabbing oil into your fingers or hands and rubbing them together…apply the oil from under your beard putting the oil onto your skin first as you want the oil to reach the skin and the roots of your hair.
Once applied, continue to spread the oil throughout your beard. You can use your hands or a wooden beard comb to evenly disperse the oil.
Every beard will require different amounts of oil so use your discretion. Our oil blend is specifically designed not to leave your beard feeling weighed down or greasy so make sure you cover your entire beard to ensure proper conditioning.
